One of the most famous and fearsome dinosaurs, T. rex lived during the Late Cretaceous (around 68–66 million years ago). Named Maip macrothorax, it was a member of the megaraptorid family and measured around 33 feet (10 meters) long, and 11.4 feet (3.5 meters) wide. A colossal sauropod dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous (about 100 million years ago), closely related to Argentinosaurus. Found in Patagonia, it is estimated to have reached lengths of up to 122 feet (37 meters) and weighed 55–77 tons. It was a slow-moving herbivore, relying on its size for protection against predators.
