That's almost 3,000 times longer than the age of the universe!

That means it's almost twice as big as the Milky Way! If our galaxy were the size of a dinner plate, the Pinwheel Galaxy would be about the size of a serving tray.

The Pinwheel Galaxy isn't just big, it's also incredibly beautiful. In 2006, NASA and the European Space Agency released a very detailed image of this galaxy. This image, taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, was the largest and most detailed image of a galaxy at the time. It was made up of 51 individual exposures, along with some extra ground-based photos.
